What is Songkran?

Songkran is Thailand's New Year celebration, held nationwide every April over three days. Many people in Thailand return home to honor their ancestors and older family members. 


Is Amazing Thailand open the day of Songkran Uptown?

Amazing Thailand is CLOSED for business all day on Sunday, April 29th. However, we will resume regular business hours Monday, April 30th from 11:00am-11:00pm.


Is this event family and dog friendly?

Absolutely! Songkran Uptown hosts a kids’ activity booth with for children to enjoy, plenty of kid friendly non-spicy food options, and cultural performances for the whole family.  All well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome!


What time does Songkran Uptown end?

Songkran Uptown concludes at 8:00 p.m.


What is available for purchase?

Thai street food, traditional dishes and drinks may be purchased at the booths along the West side (the Amazing Thailand side) of Hennepin Avenue between Lake and 31st Street. There are also non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages for sale.


Do I need anything special to purchase alcohol?

Guests must receive a stamp from the welcome/ID booth after showing proof of age with a valid ID.


Is free water available?

You may purchase water bottles from the non-alcoholic beverage booth, otherwise there are water fountains inside Calhoun Square.


Where are restrooms located?

Portable toilets can be found in front of Suburban World Theater to the right of Amazing Thailand.  There are also public restrooms on the second floor of Calhoun Square.


Is First Aid located anywhere?

We do not have a first aid booth for the public, but in the event of an emergency, please  it they can go inside Amazing Thailand for small first aid needs.
